6-LED 12V Battery & Alternator Condition Tester

Perform a quick condition check on a conventional 12V vehicle battery and charging system with this compact six-LED tester and colour-coded clamps.

Basic use

1. Switch the vehicle and accessories off.
2. Connect the red clip to the positive battery terminal and the black clip to the negative terminal.
3. Read the battery-state LEDs with the engine off.
4. Start the engine only when it is safe to do so and read the alternator-state LEDs without approaching belts or fans.

Important limitations and safety

This is a quick indicator, not a calibrated load tester, CCA analyser or replacement for a multimeter. For 12V lead-acid vehicle systems only. Do not use on household mains, AC circuits, 24V systems, hybrid/EV traction batteries, damaged batteries or circuits outside the stated application. Observe correct polarity, wear eye protection and keep leads clear of hot or moving parts. Have uncertain battery or charging faults diagnosed by a qualified technician.
